General information

The Oman family has been involved with the road construction industry for over 135 years and through 5 generations. In 1881, John Oman was awarded a bridge contract for the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railroad, creating Oman Construction Company. Over the next few decades, Oman Construction led, and/or partnered, on impressive projects around the world and here at home; including the construction of many miles of the U.S. road and interstate system. Some noteworthy projects included: Expansion of the Panama Canal after WWII Worked on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline Work on the Alaska-Canadian (Alcan) Highway. A 1,522 mile military supply route connecting Dawson Creek, British Columbia with Fairbanks, Alaska. Led the completion of the world’s highest earth fill Dam in Oroville, CA In 1992, Oman Systems, Inc. (OSI) was incorporated by two Oman Construction Company principals who had developed a crew-based estimating program called ProEstimate. With years of experience in estimating and building heavy/highway projects, they started marketing the program at a local level and, eventually, nationwide. OSI has, since, introduced two more products: bidTABS and FieldManagement Pro. Our construction background enables us to understand the importance of having the right tools to perform the job, while also making us smart enough to keep those same “tools” easy to use and easy to implement.
